Data on your device
ChannelDeck stores source addresses and credentials in the operating system’s Keychain. Downloaded playlist caches are encrypted with a locally stored key. Your library settings, favorites, recent viewing, guide cache and artwork are stored locally. The apps do not provide a ChannelDeck cloud account or synchronize this library between devices.
The Apple TV app stores compressed media temporarily to provide rewind. History is limited by the selected duration and available storage, and is cleared when you change channels, stop playback or leave the app. Mac recordings and their metadata remain locally until you delete them; temporary playback data is separate from saved recordings.
Apple TV’s Top Shelf extension reads shared channel names and cached preview images on the device to display them on the Home Screen. This is not a cloud upload.
Requests to your sources
The app connects to the playlist, stream, guide and image hosts needed to load the sources you configure. Those services can receive your IP address, requested URLs, standard connection information and any authentication included in your source. Their own terms and privacy practices apply. HTTP sources are supported for compatibility and do not provide the transport protection of HTTPS.
ChannelDeck does not include advertising or analytics SDKs, and does not send your playlist, viewing history or stream contents to a ChannelDeck-operated analytics service.
Programme guide services
When Automatic or Open-EPG mode is selected, the app may request Open-EPG’s public catalogue and relevant country guide files. Matching happens locally. Open-EPG is not sent your playlist URL, provider credentials or channel list, but can see your IP address and the guide files requested.
The Apple TV editor defaults to Automatic, which may supplement missing listings with Open-EPG. The Mac editor defaults to Playlist / custom URL. Choose Playlist / custom URL to use only your own guide source. Open-EPG is a separate provider, and its available listings can change.
Optional Mac relay
If you configure the secure AirPlay relay, ChannelDeck uses your configured Cloudflare account to manage the relay’s DNS record and requests a certificate from Let’s Encrypt. These services receive the information necessary for DNS and certificate operations. Public certificate transparency logs can include the relay hostname. Relay tokens and private key material are kept in Keychain; media is served from the Mac to the receiver. The relay is optional.
This website
The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Hosting providers process connection and request data such as IP addresses, browser information, requested pages and security events to deliver and protect the site. Their service policies govern their infrastructure processing. We do not add advertising trackers, third-party analytics, contact forms or marketing cookies to these pages.
Links to GitHub, Apple, programme providers and other external services take you to those services, where their own privacy policies apply. Downloads and the optional demo media are hosted on GitHub. Our public pages do not require a ChannelDeck account.
Support messages
If you email us, we receive your address, message and any attachments you choose to send. Email sent to this domain is routed through Cloudflare to our support inbox and processed by our email provider. We use it to respond, investigate problems and maintain relevant support records. Avoid including passwords, private playlist URLs or unnecessary personal information.
Support correspondence is kept only as long as needed to resolve the request, maintain relevant support records or meet applicable obligations. You can ask us to delete it, subject to any legal retention requirement. A public GitHub issue is visible to others and follows GitHub’s policies.
Purpose and your choices
Where data protection law applies, service requests are processed to provide the requested service, operate and secure the website, respond to support, or meet a legal obligation. Depending on the circumstances, these purposes rely on performance of a contract or pre-contractual request, legitimate interests in service operation and security, or a legal requirement.
You can change your guide provider, remove playlists and delete local recordings using the apps. Removing a playlist removes its saved source information; some general downloaded cache files may remain until cleanup or operating-system eviction. Deleting the app is not a guarantee that the operating system removes every Keychain item, so remove saved sources in the app first if that is your intention.
You may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of personal data, object to processing, request portability, and complain to a supervisory authority. Contact us to exercise an applicable right. We may need enough information to verify and locate your request.
Service providers and transfers
Infrastructure, email and download providers may process data in countries outside your own. Where required, applicable provider agreements and legal safeguards govern transfers. We do not sell personal information or operate a data-broker service. Requests you make directly to your own media providers are governed by those providers’ arrangements.
